General Information
The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Services Team serves all Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals participating in all programs throughout WTC. Services include staff who are fluent in ASL. Staff provide the following support services:
- Assist consumers in achieving their vocational goals.
- Promote self-advocacy and independence.
- Employment Services.
- WTC Training/Partnership Programs.
- Assistive Technology.
- Pre-ETS WAVE (Work and Volunteer Experience) Program.
- Coordination of interpreting services and other strategies to accommodate individual needs for effective communication (or communication services).
- Increase awareness of the needs of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals among WTC staff and students, and accessibility to employers and the community/general public.
WAVE (Work and Volunteer Experience)
The WAVE (Work and Volunteer Experience) program is a four-day program designed for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students from Deaf Residential and Mainstream School settings. WAVE participants will explore their vocational interests, skills and abilities, aptitudes, and work ethic.
Students will explore three of the WTC training programs:
- Automotive
- Environmental services
- Food service
They will also participate in trips to visit businesses relating to these training areas.
