DORS has its own share of QUEST success stories, and Jennifer Gasiorowski is one of them.

Jennifer started working with DORS in 2004. “I think it was my senior year, it might have been my vice principal who recommended DORS…I started in the Towson office.”

DORS helped Jennifer attend Essex Community College and then Towson University “I graduated with a degree in computer science in 2001.” DORS also helped link Jennifer with Jewish Volunteer Connection, where she received interviewing and job searching skills training.

After graduating from college, Jennifer started working with DORS Workforce & Technology Center Employment Services Specialist, Jean Preston, who encouraged her to apply for a QUEST internship. “I did some part-time work for Absolute Quality doing game testing. Then I applied for QUEST in 2003. In 2004, I got the internship as a program developer [working on the DORS website and intranet]. The internship was supposed to be for several weeks, but they liked me so much, so I was hired [contractual] in 2004, but eventually it became a PIN [permanent position].”

Today, Jennifer works in DORS’ Management Information Systems department as a Data Processing Programmer Analyst II. She works on DORS consumer data base, AWARE, and on in-house applications.

“I love the entire software development process…analyzing and designing the software and the user interfaces and making everything work together!” Jennifer is so enthusiastic about her work, that it is easy to guess that she plans to stay working at DORS. “Yes, I’m enjoying it too much [to go anywhere else]!”

It seems too, that Jennifer is much appreciated by her Management Information Services (MIS) colleagues. When asked to contribute a statement about her success at DORS, MIS Manager, Natalie Dizik, and MIS Director, Randy Diehl, wrote the following: “Jennifer Gasiorowski started working for DORS in 2004 under the Quest Internship program. Jennifer excelled at the opportunity so much so that she was hired as a full time Programmer Analyst. Jennifer’s skill set includes database design, web development and data analytics. Enthusiastic with each project, she is a great achiever in the computer programming field. She continuously succeeds in building applications and making them user friendly. She is always courteous to customers and colleagues and strives to support the Agency in any way she can. Jennifer is a much appreciated team player!”

Jennifer highly recommends DORS and the QUEST program to job seekers with disabilities: “The most helpful things were the job search and interviewing skills, and QUEST…DORS can help you!”
