AbilityOne

AbilityOne jobs are part of the AbilityOne Program, which is one of the largest sources of employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities in the United States.

The AbilityOne program provides products and services to the Federal government and the Department of Defense, creating job opportunities for individuals with disabilities via federal government contractors.

The standard AbilityOne requirements are:

  • Documented severe physical, mental, or emotional impairment is necessary for eligibility.
  • Lifting requirements range from 20 to 75 pounds depending on the position.
  • Certain positions require a driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Reading and writing moderately well are also required in some cases.

Jobs under the AbilityOne Program, one typically need to provide the following documentation:

  • Resume: A detailed resume outlining your work experience, education, and skills.
  • Proof of Disability: Documentation from a medical professional or a recognized authority confirming your disability.
  • Application Form: Completed application forms specific to the job you are applying for.
  • Identification: Valid government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport.
  • References: Contact information for professional references who can vouch for your qualifications and work ethic.
