Program Description
Worksite Services provides assistive technology based assessments and trainings to individuals who are in need of assistance to help them perform the essential functions of a job due to their disability. Services are performed by Rehabilitation Technologists and Occupational Therapists who possess specialized knowledge and experience in working with individuals with various disabilities in the employment setting.
Worksite Services staff work very closely with the individual and employer to determine accommodations to meet the needs of all parties. Services can be provided at the worksite and/or at WTC. Often times multiple appointments are required in order to fully assess the individual’s needs before accommodations can be suggested.
Examples of accommodations include:
- Adaptive hardware and software technologies
- Communication and assistive listening devices
- Ergonomic workstation evaluation
- Organizational strategies, techniques and equipment
Program Requirements
Individuals who are experiencing difficulties in the performance of their jobs due to a disability may be referred for Worksite Services by their DORS Field Counselor.
Authorization Requirements
The WTC Authorization should include the WTC Worksite Services category, and selection of the most appropriate subcategory should be chosen based upon the individual’s needs. If in doubt of which subcategory to choose, the default category of AT Assessment-Work can be selected. Further information related to the individual’s job, including job tasks, position description, employer contact info, and a description of problematic work tasks, should be included on the WTC Authorization.
