PowerPoint Accessibility

The basic DORS template is as accessible as it can be, but it's up to the content creator to keep it that way.

Don't forget to:

  • Put alternate text on all images you insert so people who can't see them know what they are, or mark them as decorative so that assistive technology knows they're not important (e.g., stock footage, decorative flourishes, clip art).
  • Use the layouts supplied in the template to format your pages. Try not to insert additional text boxes – assistive technology may not be able to read what's in them.
  • Use a font size no smaller than 18. Ideally, stick with the font sizes already in the template. No microtype.
  • Slides are free. It doesn't cost anything to add another slide, rather than cram as much text as possible on a single slide.
