Home Modifications

​DORS can provide a limited range of home modification services to the homes of DORS consumers who need these services to achieve their employment goal. All services take place in the participants' homes.

WTC's home modification team evaluates and improves the accessibility of the homes of the individuals who qualify for these services.

Services include:

  • Assessment of bathroom accessibility, home entry and exit, and access to different levels of the home.
  • Coordination and scheduling of construction for the modification.
  • Ongoing onsite monitoring during construction.
  • Coordination of final inspections.
  • Confirmation that all modifications comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Home Modification Program requirements:

  • Individual must be a current DORS consumer.
  • Modifications are needed to achieve an employment goal.
  • Modifications are for property owned by the DORS consumer or their family.

The Vocational Rehabilitation program receives 78.7% of its funding through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
For the Federal fiscal year 2024, the total amount of grant funds awarded was $51,885,242.
The remaining 21.3% of the costs ($15,395,878) were funded by State appropriations.
