Environmental Services

The Environmental Services Training Program is a 16-week hands-on course that prepares job seekers with disabilities for Environmental Service jobs.


This program is offered at the Workforce & Technology Center campus in Baltimore where students get valuable experience and workplace skills doing classroom and hands-on training.

Training Includes:

  • ​​Floor stripping, buffing & waxing
  • Dust mop floors
  • Damp mop floors
  • Trash collection
  • Office cleaning
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Upholstery cleaning
  • Window cleaning
  • Restroom cleaning
  • Restocking supplies
  • Stairwell cleaning

Program Requirements:

  • Do a lot of walking
  • Work in very noisy workplaces 
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Stand, stoop, bend & stretch for a long period of time
  • Do the same jobs many times
  • Work alone or with a group
  • Measure & mix cleaners
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Follow verbal & written directions
  • Have a strong grip strength

The Vocational Rehabilitation program receives 78.7% of its funding through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. For the Federal fiscal year 2025 the total amount of grant funds awarded was $62,023,386. The remaining 21.3% of the costs ($16,786,507) were funded by State appropriations.
